The Menindee Transaction Centre is situated on the corner of Yartla and Haberfield Street. It was established in 2004 under a Federal Government grant. The Australian Government allocated $70 million between 1 July 2000 and 30 June 2005 under the Telstra (Further Dilution of Public Ownership) Act 1999 to put services back and introduce new services to smaller rural towns. The Menindee Transaction Centre is as individual and innovative as the community it serves and provides a range of services including;

The Community Library at the Menindee Transaction Centre has over 600 books for avid fiction readers to borrow. Another 100+ books are also available for the 0-5year age group. All are welcome to come and browse and borrow during office hours Monday to Friday. Community members are also welcome to contact the Broken Hill City Library on o8 80803460 to access the Outback Library
