NSW Seniors Week Grants Program open
The Nationals Member for Murray-Darling John Williams is calling on community service groups across the electorate to apply for event sponsorship ahead of NSW Seniors Week 2010 celebrations.
NSW Seniors Week, which will be held from 21-28 March 2010, celebrates the contribution made by senior citizens throughout the community, targeting those over 60, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people over 50 and citizens with a lifelong disability.
“NSW Senior’s Week encourages seniors to become involved within the community and challenge the stereotypes surrounding aging,” he said. “The Grant is a great way for community groups and services to gain funding to subsidise an event or activity promoting such things as physical activity, social interaction and accessing education and new technology.” Mr Williams said that local government and non-for profit organisations, community groups and other incorporated bodies are encouraged to apply with applications closing on 18 September 2009. Further information or an application package can be found on the NSW Seniors Week website: www.nswseniorsweek.com.au/documents/Grants_Program_Nomination_Form.pdf or by phoning John Williams office on (08) 8087 3315 in Broken Hill or (03) 5881 7034 in Deniliquin.
