BAAKA Cultural Centre - Wilcannia

The development of the $9.5 million Baaka Cultural Centre at Wilcannia is a regionally significant project.
The project met criteria to be independently assessed and approved by the Western Regional Planning Panel before going to Council for endorsement in September 2022. 
The Baaka Cultural Centre project will accommodate a range of activities (public exhibitions, performances, workshop, training and events) while also functioning as a visitor information centre, and meeting/gathering place for the community and a keeping place for artefacts.
On Tuesday, August 15, 2023 a community celebration was held to mark a significant step forward in the project with the signing of the contract to build the center.
