Truck Driver – White Cliffs

• Permanent Position

• 38 Hour week

Central Darling Shire Council is seeking to appoint a suitably experienced and qualified Truck Driver to join the organisation. You will be responsible for truck driving, plant operating and general labouring duties. Your primary workplace location will be White Cliffs; however this may change during your employment if required for operational purposes.  

To be considered for the role you must meet the following selection criteria:

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Minimum Class MR Driver’s licence

• WorkCover Certificate – ‘OHS General Induction for Construction work in NSW’ (White Card). Applicant must obtain this qualification before commencing employment.

• Ability to read instructions and complete time, plant and pay sheets legibly and accurately, along with Inspection documentation as a result of road inspections carried out.

• Ability to do basic arithmetic to calculate numbers of activities carried out.

• Experience with small motorised mechanical equipment and ability to identify and rectify problems if required.

• Demonstrated knowledge of work health and safety considerations. Particularly WH&S Act 2011.

• Ability to work unsupervised when required and respond to work interruptions, changed priorities and after hours work as required.

• Preparedness to undertake Council sponsored training courses if requested.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Possess time management and organisational skills.

• Demonstrated ability to act in a professional manner and adhere to Council’s values and behaviours.

• Ability to meet medical examination requirements for appointment to the position.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

• Two to three years’ experience driving trucks in a similar position.

• Worked within Local Government.

• Demonstrated ability to undertake the range of duties specified.

• Education to School Certificate standard, or satisfactory completion of labour market or other relevant skills training courses.

• Concreting, bitumen sprayed sealing, drainage laying, plumbing, road construction and maintenance and appropriate plant or machinery operating.

• Experience with Water Treatment processes and reticulation networks.
