Welcoming approval of Natural Disaster Declaration Assistance

A storm event in the Shire which caused $1.3 million in damages, earlier this year, has been declared eligible for support under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements. The storm was originally deemed not eligible for Natural Disaster Declaration assistance. However, after Council lobbied for a review, the good news has been received.

Wilcannia Weir - Early days but progress is positive

Central Darling Shire Council Administrator, Bob Stewart, has thanked the NSW Water Minister, Rose Jackson for her recent visit to Wilcannia and action investigating the situation with the Weir redesign. It’s still early days but the progress is very positive.

Council Caravan Parks update - White Cliffs & Wilcannia

White Cliffs Caravan Park is currently going through an Expressions of Interest process to appoint a new caretaker and will introduce an online booking system. While Wilcannia's Victory Caravan Park is showing good results since last year’s introduction of online booking.

Council continues discussions about RFS agreement amid increasing costs. A report to the July Council meeting highlighted the need for the current Service Level Agreement between Central Darling Shire and the NSW RFS to be renegotiated. This is because costs have increased since the agreement was made 10 years ago.

Proposed land transfer to Wilcannia Local Aboriginal Land Council
