Statewide Community Participation Plan
A new statewide Community Participation Plan will make it simpler and clearer for communities to have their say on planning decisions, no matter where they live. The new plan, which takes effect today, replaces more than 100 plans previously in use across the state and will ensure consultation is consistent across NSW.
It’s part of the NSW Government’s landmark reforms to make the planning system faster, fairer and more focused on outcomes. Under the plan:
• exhibition timeframes for strategic plans such as draft district and regional plans, and local strategic planning statements have increased to a minimum of 60 days • residential flat buildings and shop top housing development types will remain subject to a minimum 14-day exhibition period
• minimum exhibition timeframes will be retained
• the list of lower impact development types that will not require exhibition has been refine
