The Barrier Highway, 23km west of Wilcannia, has opened to 4WD. Because of the floodwater level across the road only Heavy Vehicles and 4WD can use the highway. The water level depth in the centre is 300mm, length is approximately 200m. The trench is still draining water in this area at 300mm depth and 1.5m width towards the east. Council will have traffic control in place to ensure single lane use and will monitor pavement conditions during the day. Additional guideposts and nightline have been installed to indicate the travel path.
