Visiting our Far West NSW Shire.
Published on 12 March 2026
The Barrier Highway has reopened to heavy vehicles only. This means ONLY TRUCKS can use the road. This is because there is still 450mm of water across the middle of the road. The edges of the road, at the deepest locations are still under 550mm to 600mm of water. Traffic can only travel in one direction alternating on the centre line of the road. Council has traffic control onsite. Council workers are continuing to monitor the condition of the road pavement throughout the day.
Pictured below are photos of the roads since the start of the flooding situation. This is not an accurate representation of the current status with water over these roads as conditions are changing each day.
