UPDATE FROM THE LOCAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

The Local Emergency Management Committee, comprising State agencies, NGOs, and Central Darling Shire Council meet daily to ensure services to COVID affected areas are coordinated and able to meet immediate needs.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT ACCOMMODATION

The majority of the motorhomes which will provide the community support accommodation for people who need help with isolation are expected to be in Wilcannia this afternoon (Saturday). The motorhomes have been sourced from various areas and are expected to be welcoming residents on Monday.

The LEMC can assure all residents that drivers of the motorhomes have transport from Wilcannia and will be leaving town once delivery of the motorhomes is complete.

TESTING: CHANGE IN WILCANNIA TESTING CLINIC LOCATION

From Monday, the Wilcannia Testing Clinic will be located at the Wilcannia Swimming Pool. Hours of the testing clinic will be daily between 10am and 2pm. Testing teams will be visiting homes for Day 5 and Day 12 testing between 2pm and 4pm.

Clinics throughout the Shire may be closed due to wet and windy weather over the weekend. If you require a COVID test, please ring your local health service and speak with them.

WILCANNIA VACCINATION CLINIC

Next week, the RFDS Vaccination Clinic at the Wilcannia Town Hall will be open between 10am and 3pm from Tuesday through to Friday. The vaccination clinic is able to provide both first and second vaccinations. Please speak with the RFDS staff if you have any queries about your vaccination schedule.

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT HUB

Despite some wild weather leading into the weekend, the Emergency Management Hub is ready for operation. The Hub is located at the Oval and is using “base camp” facilities which will service the front line professionals during the recovery effort.
