UPDATE FROM THE LOCAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

The Local Emergency Management Committee, comprising State agencies, NGOs, and Central Darling Shire Council is providing regular updates to provide the community with information it needs as we work through the current COVID outbreak.

STAY AT HOME

The whole of the Central Darling Shire Council area is still subject to the Stay At Home orders. Under the Stay At Home orders you must:

  • Only go out for essential purposes, such as shopping.
  • Only one person per household should go out.
  • Masks must be worn at all times.
  • You must not visit people or have visitors to your home.
  • Always check in to any shop or venue to visit.

TESTING

It is vital that people continue being tested throughout the Shire. Testing stations are available at

  • Wilcannia – daily at the Swimming Pool complex, Reid Street between 10am and 2pm. Home visits for Day 5 and Day 12 testing will be conducted between 2pm and 4pm.
  • White Cliffs – car park of the Health Service, entry through Johnston Street, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 10am to 2pm
  • Menindee – please call the health service as the testing clinic is being relocated
  • Ivanhoe – Sportsground daily 10am to 2pm

VACCINATION CLINIC

The Wilcannia Vaccination Clinic at the Town Hall will continue next week, Tuesday to Friday between 10am and 3pm. This is a walk-in clinic. No appointment is necessary.

DONATIONS

As we move into the recovery stage of our outbreak, cash donations are being encouraged, in lieu of food donations. These cash donations will go to the far west recovery effort, assisting with the ongoing purchase of PPE and hand sanitiser for volunteers.

FOOD SHED OPERATIONS

Food supply into Wilcannia and to households needing support is secure thanks to the ongoing support of partner agencies.

With support services in place, the community led food shed operations is now able to be scaled back to five days a week. Orders will be taken Monday to Friday between 12 noon and 3pm with deliveries made after 3pm.

People still wanting to assist with the COVID recovery effort are encouraged to donate through Maari Ma Health Service.
